Based on our current travels, I’ve collected some definitive list that are fun, romantic, and most of all budget friendly. Here are the top five European honeymoon destinations around the world.
There are many reasons that Portugal is not at the top radar of Honeymooner’s bucket list because Portugal is not as well known as its neighboring countries such as Spain or Morocco. It is hard to compare with a beautiful and romantic scene Porto and Lisbon’s steep hills with a 1000 years world UNESCO vineyards in the Douro Valley, Moorish architectures, azure water and the fresh grilled seafoods. Porto is small compared to its sister city, Lisbon. If you are bibliophile and into Harry Porter, you might opt to check Porto’s famous library, Livraria Lello. Both cities offers great charms and stunning architectures with romantic scene for honeymoons and locals alike. Lisbon is a lot bigger city that is more hip and busier whereas Porto is more relax and smaller city. Porto is known for its Port wines and culinary. The oldest winery in the world is just about 90 minutes away by car.
Lisboa offers more variety of urban city life and a lot more hip. Many visitors and locals agreed that Lisbon has it own charm with many cable cars. This city feel like some what like you’re in San Francisco, California in a brief moment. Lisbon offers variety of attractions to see and do. With just an hour away, you can immerse yourself in the enchanted forest with colorful castles perched on top of the hill in the little town of Sintra. Once you step foot in this colorful fairytale like city, you will immediately feel like you’re in some kind of magic kingdom waiting for prince charming to come.
If you are into fine dining and cuisine glamour comes easy, especially at the Michelin’s Stars restaurants Casa de Cha de Boa Nova and Loco where the formula for a sexy, sophisticated getaway is tried and true.
Imagine sipping Sangria and tasting Tapas in one of Spaniard’s oldest restaurants? You don’t have to , imagine anymore. Spain is the place for your trip. Immerse yourself in the gothic and moorish architect of Seville. Seville is very refreshing to visit in the more milder weather. Seville is a very beautiful. It has everything for everyone to enjoy. It has a relaxing vibes than Madrid. Seville has river runs through the city with its very charming architectures that is a feast for photographers and arts enthusiasts. Highly recommend spending at least two weeks in order to enjoy the people, the cultures, the cuisines of Seville. Seville can be very unpleasantly hot and humid in the summer. For more milder and enjoyable weather, the best time to visit is from September to December.
If Seville is not enough, another city to indulge yourself in is Granada. You can reach the city train with a few hours train ride from Seville. European transportation is so great that making train ride more joyful than plane ride. Granada is a smaller city than Seville by far. The major site seeing and a must see is the Alhambra Palace. The divine and colorful moorish architecture is something worth climbing those steps to visit. The city itself encapsulated by surrounding hills that ostentatiously adorn its beauty when the sun hits the Alhambra Palace. One of the best place to see the sunset among the hillside overlooking the cityscape is St. Martin Church. One of the most romantic place to watch the sunset in the neighborhood of Albatcin. You can spend about a week here and then go visit Gibraltar and surrounding part of Andalusia. If you have some more time, you can take the ferry over to Morocco.
Overall these two countries will keep you in tippy top shape due to the hills and more hills to climb. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and prepared to walk a lot.
